Erdington Station - A railway station in Birmingham!

Erdington Station is on the Cross City Line in north Birmingham. First opened in 1862. It is close to the Erdington High Street. Frequent trains between Lichfield and Redditch via New Street.

In brief

The former London, Midland and Scottish Railway opened a station in Erdington at Sheep Lane (now called Station Road) in 1862. It has been part of the Cross City Line since 1978. The line through it was electrified in 1992. A new passenger shelter was built on the north bound platform in 2006. There is 6 trains an hour each way from Monday to Saturday, with half hourly services on Sunday's Operated by Class 323 Electric Multiple Units. There is a sculpture near the ramp leading up to platform 2 called Insect and Celtic Cross by Ronald Rae (made in 1998). The station is a short walk away from the Erdington High Street.

Insect and Celtic Cross

There is a stone sculpture made by Ronald Rae in 1998, close to the bottom of the ramp leading up to platform 2 from Station Road in Erdington. This is called Insect and Celtic Cross.
